From Cancun
There are many rental car offices to be found in Cancun, either in your hotel lobby or nearby, such as Dollar, Hertz, Budget, National, Avis, etc. Renting a car for a trip south into the Riviera Maya can be a lot of fun and you will be able to visit other attractions easily. It is recommended that you make advance reservations for a rental car; sometimes availability is very limited during the busy seasons and it will certainly be less expensive. If you have a rental car simply head south from Cancun on Highway 307 towards Tulum and you will see us on the right hand side of the road around 2 kms after Xel-Ha. There is a large Hidden Worlds sign outside so you can’t miss us.
To get to Hidden Worlds by public transport from Cancun you will first need to go to Playa del Carmen either by bus or colectivo van (these are public mini vans that run up and down Highway 307 between Cancun and Playa del Carmen and between Playa del Carmen and Tulum). You can take a bus to Playa del Carmen from Cancun’s main ADO bus station or hop on a colectivo van in downtown Cancun in the parking lot of "La Comercial Mexicana" (Mega) supermarket on Tulum Ave. The journey to Playa del Carmen should take around 45 minutes.
Once in Playa del Carmen, you can either take a 2nd class bus from the main ADO bus terminal on 5th Avenue and ask to be dropped off at Hidden Worlds - 2 kms after Xel-Ha (2nd class buses can take a long time if they make a lot of stops but don’t take a 1st class bus because they won’t stop before Tulum) or walk a few blocks inland from the bus station to Calle 2 between 15th and 20th Avenues, where you will find a line of white public mini-vans (colectivos). Tell the driver you want to go to Hidden Worlds and keep an eye out as you approach – we are 2 kms after Xel-Ha and there is a big Hidden Worlds sign outside so you can’t miss us. This should take around 40 minutes and cost around 25 pesos per person.
Getting back is easy and our reception staff will be at hand to help you. You can simply flag down a colectivo van or taxi on the highway at the Hidden Worlds entrance which will take you directly back to Playa del Carmen for the bus or colectivo back to Cancun.
From Cozumel
There are two ferry companies that operate the route between Cozumel and Playa del Carmen. Between them they run ferries back and forth almost every hour on the hour between 5am and 11pm. Tickets are priced at around 120 pesos each way (it is recommended that you buy a single rather than a return because tickets are not transferable between companies) and the journey takes 30 – 45 minutes. We recommend contacting the ferry companies directly to confirm departure times as they may be subject to change (Ultramar, Playa del Carmen Tel: (984) 803-5581 / Waterjets, Cozumel Tel: 872-1508, 872-1588 or Playa del Carmen Tel: (984) 879-3112).
Public transportation options are also easy and reliable. Once in Playa del Carmen walk up towards the main ADO bus terminal on 5th Avenue. Either take a 2nd class bus from the main ADO bus terminal on 5th Avenue and ask to be dropped off at Hidden Worlds - 2 kms after Xel-Ha (2nd class buses can take a long time if they make a lot of stops but don’t take a 1st class bus because they won’t stop before Tulum) or walk a few blocks inland from the bus station to Calle 2 between 15th and 20th Avenues, where you will find a line of white public mini-vans (colectivos). This should take around 40 minutes and cost around 25 pesos per person.
Alternatively you could of course take a taxi directly to Hidden Worlds from the ferry port, though this is obviously a more expensive option (around 400 - 500 pesos as a guide, but be sure to agree on a price before you travel). If you don’t want to use public transportation and our pick-up times are not convenient, we would also be happy to arrange a private transfer for your group from Playa del Carmen with a local company. Prices vary and we can obtain a quote for you upon request.
